It's
been a whirlwind of a year. I did an 8 month
internship with CollegeFashionista, successfully published several
editorials, met amazing new artist friends, had 5 gallery shows,
graduated from college with 2 bachelor degree's and that's not even
the half of it. Today marks not only the eve of the eve of a new year but also the 3rd
anniversary of this blog. I distinctly remember the day I wrote the
very first post when this site was still under the name The Scorpion
Totem. I was at the lowest point in my life and needed something to
keep me focused and grounded and I had always been such a huge fan of blogs. Looking back I could never be where I
am today if I hadn't of gone through those experiences, good and bad.
and I am so thankful for everything life has thrown at me. But not only that I am so thankful for what this blog has done for me. By creating this site 3 years ago it has become more than just a blog, it is a part of me. I think about how I can make it better all the time, help it grow and be the best reflection of me it can possibly be. I still don't feel I am quite there yet but since the initial posts of self wallowing poetry and tumblr photos it has certainly come a long way.
As
I was searching for synonyms of progress I came across the word
ameliorate which means to make or become better, to improve. The way
the word seems to flow off the tongue and has this
can't-quite-put-my-finger-on-it mystery made it perfect for the title
of this post. It's something that I feel accurately describes the
experiences of my life these past 3 years not only literally but
figuratively. I've
never done a round-up of my personal style photo's and I figured now
was the time since I will be starting a new chapter in my life upon
my move to New York in a few days and there is a good chance that my
style in photography and through clothing may drastically change with
a new setting in front of me. I find it shocking and so beautiful to
see how much my work has progressed in the last year. It inspires me
to grow and push the envelope even more. These are all in
chronological order starting from January to December of 2013. I hope
you all enjoy this extremely
narcissistic post and let me know which photo was your
favorite from the year?
